Learn the traditional craft of cold process soap making from Ashley Marie LeBaron, creator of Ashley Marie Soap. This workshop teaches you how to make soap as you safely work with lye, mix ingredients, use essential oil blends, and mold beautiful soap loaves under Ashley Marie’s instruction. Using therapeutic, aromatic oil blends and ethically sourced botanical ingredients, these cold process soaps will look beautiful next to your bathroom sink. Or, lather your friends and family in love and gift them a self-care night with the soap’s natural, skin-nourishing ingredients. This workshop includes:  A detailed digital workshop by Ashley Marie LeBaron A recorded Maker Chat Q&A for our community Tools and materials to make two loaves of soap: Ashley Marie’s neutral tea tree bar and her rose-cedarwood-lavender swirl bar, yielding 8-10 bars each. The specialty tools & materials in our soap making kit include: Olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, castor oil, and shea butter Soap cutter 10 silicone mold Immersion blender Simple essential oil blend Rose essential oil blend Rose kaolin clay 1/3 c dried rose petals Distilled water Lye Safety goggles Disposable gloves One 1/2 c, two 32 oz, and one 64 oz measuring cups Wooden stir stick Stainless steel bowl, spoon, and tablespoon spoon Pan Thermometer Spatula Safety Note: Ashley Marie carefully and thoughtfully guides you through every step of this process. Following her workshop video in detail is crucial to your soap making journey. Lye is an incredibly strong chemical that requires extreme caution. Because of this, the tools and materials above have been specifically chosen for your safety. While you may have some of the common kitchen tools above, they should never be cross-contaminated. For safety, we recommend wearing the goggles and disposable gloves included in your kit, along with a long-sleeved shirt. Be sure to work in a well-ventilated area. Always add lye to liquids (instead of the other way around or it may have a volcanic effect — like Ashley Marie found out her first time mixing!). When mixing lye into liquid, it gets hot quickly and will emit fumes. If you get lye on your skin, rinse with cool water. For burns or eyes, rinse then seek medical attention.
