Two 1930s Can Openers, Vaughan's Easy Cutter & Quintuplet Kitchen Utility.
Collectible pair of depression-era tin can openers from the 1930s. Vaughan's & Quintuplet. Just $28 for both.
• Early Vaughan's Easy Cutter with wooden handle: Has a couple of stampings, including "Vaughan's Easy Cutter, Made In U.S.A.". Blade is stamped "Vaughan Novelty Mfg. Co. Chicago" and "Oil Tempered Tool Steel". Measures about 8½" long. Has a wood handle and a functional sliding piercer on the shaft.
• Solid steel "Quintuplet Kitchen Utility" - A multi-tool with, as you would guess, 5 different tools. Stamped "Quintuplet" a couple of times, as well as "Reg. U.S. Pat. Off.". Not marked as such, but most likely made by Cahil. Can be used as a can opener, jar opener, bottle opener and screwdriver. Circa 1936 according to patent number USD100469. Interestingly, the release of this can opener might have been inspired by the birth of the Dionne Quintuplets in 1934. Measures 7½" long.
CONDITION: The Vaughan one has some paint residue on the handle. Minor surface rust, blemishes. Both are in very good condition with no obvious damage.
