We began experimenting with melting or slumping bottles a couple of years ago, and after firing a few successfully, we were not really satisfied with the end product. The were nice but kinda blah. We were in our laboratory one night (commonly known as the kitchen) and it came to us. We fired a few bottles with artwork on them and when we opened the kiln, were pleasantly surprised at how beautiful they were. We tweaked it a little bit, and now produce the product that you see in the pictures. Very unique, useful and attractive. The melted or slumped bottles that we fire can be used for a variety of things. The flat ones can be used as a spoon rest, cheeseboard or as a wall hanging. We put rubber feet on the flat bottles as well as a loop for hanging. The bottles melted in a bowl shape can be used as a spoon rest as well as a dish for candy, peanuts, popcorn, etc. it can also be used for things such as dip, salsa or even as an ashtray. The artwork is fired right into the glass and is permanent. It is food and dishwasher safe. The bottles all have a personality of their own. Each one is just a little different.
