This is a vintage 1980s Kenmore microwave oven consumer checklist tag. Dating to 1983, this is the consumer checklist for a Kenmore portable microwave oven, stock no. 88841. Kenmore is made by Sears. This checklist was included with the packing material of a new microwave oven. States the appliance features, dimensions, and warranty information. Sold loose. KEY FEATURES Approximate dimensions: 9 inches tall and 3 inches wide. Fantastic vintage condition. Includes tag string. PROVENANCE AND INFORMATION This comes from my mom's collection. Microwave ovens were a new thing in the early 1980s. Larger ones were much more expensive. I remember my grandparents buying one for our house when I was a kid. They gave it to my mom and dad for Christmas in 1983. As I remember, the oven was large compared to models sold today. Faux wood and a digital display, this thing seemed modernly futuristic at the time. My mom saved all sorts of stuff from the appliance: instructions, consumer checklist, etc., but eventually, the oven stopped working sometime in the early 2000s and my mom got a new microwave oven. At the time, she then got rid of all the paperwork that she may have saved from the original Kenmore. Or so we thought. While she was going through her cookbook collection, she found this tucked amongst the books, perhaps having used it as a bookmark. I found a very similar model of microwave for pictorial comparison in the 1983 Sears Wishbook catalog on page 387. It's not the exact model, but it's pretty close to the type and style of microwave oven this tag came with. It doesn't look like a very portable oven to me, but times were different in the '80s. A fantastic piece of ephemera, a piece created to be temporary but ended up enduring through the decades.
